As Chief Legal Officer at Tau Medical, Justin Kim leads the company’s intellectual property (IP) strategy, ensuring the protection and commercial optimization of Tau’s core technologies. His work plays a pivotal role in securing the company’s innovations and positioning Tau for long-term success in the global medtech landscape.

Prior to joining Tau, Justin was a partner at Maxon IP, a firm specializing in medical device patent prosecution and strategic counseling. He previously served as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he reviewed a wide range of patent applications with technical depth and legal precision.

Before entering the legal profession, Justin worked as a wireless application engineer at Texas Instruments Inc. in Dallas, Texas.

​

He holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and earned his Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University Law School in Indiana.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Justin is a senior advisor to the Korean American Intellectual Property Bar Association (KAIPBA) and served as its President from 2017 to 2018.
